A mini exhibition
Edvard Munch is Norway's most famous artist. He painted, drew, created graphics and photographed. In everything he did, we see his experimental way of working.
This mini exhibition shows how Edvard Munch (1863-1944) worked with his motifs and ideas. Munch was fearless when it came to experimenting. The painting " View from a balcony" (in Horten municipality ownership) is displayed so that the design on the back will be available to the public. The painting reveals just his way of working.
Put together with Munch's own photographs borrowed from the Munch museum, it becomes clear how closely his painting and photography are woven together.
On display you will also find, from Preus Museum collection, Munch Kodak Vest Pocket Auto Graphic camera that he acquired in the 1930s. We know for a fact that used it to take some of his photographs and self-portraits.
