This exhibition is based on a long-term project concerning the war in former Yugoslavia. The images exhibited are from the period 1994-99. Jens Olof Lasthein has chosen to focus on situations in everyday life and not on actual acts of war. The exhibition shows situations where what has happened or is going to happen is implicit - hence the title: Moments in Between. The book with the same name received the “ETC Photo Award 2001”

The idea behind the exhibition is to show life in the shadow of war. This is the story of the consequences of war and nationalism in former Yugoslavia, but it is also a story of what can happen to anyone of us, at any time and at any place. It is the story of everyday life in chaos, of misrule, relentless waiting and restlessness. And it is the story of the strength that humans need in order to survive.

Jens Olof Lasthein (b. 1964) is a freelance photographer who grew up in Denmark and is now living in Stockholm. He works for picture agencies such as MIRA and Samfoto.

Jens Olof Lasthein will be present at the press conference on Thursday 27 March and at the opening on 30 March.

This exhibition has previously been shown in several locations in Sweden, Denmark and Italy. It opens in the Large Gallery at Norsk museum for fotografi – Preus fotomuseum at 2 p.m. on 30 March and will remain open until 9 June 2003.
