”As It Happens” Photographs by Jim Bengston Born Evanston, Illinois, 1942. Grew up in Chicago area. Studied literature at Lake Forest College, graduating with honors, 1964. Shortly after entering graduate school at Princeton University decided against academic career & joined army,1965. Became interested in photography while stationed in Germany. Assistant to base photographer, 1967-1968. Photo editor at Associated Press, New York, 1969 & 1970. Moved to Oslo, Norway, with family and worked as copywriter, translator and photographer at advertising agency Young&Rubicam, 1971-1975. Freelance photographer, Oslo, since 1975. Exhibited extensively in Europe and USA, since 1978.
