Entrance

The entrance to the museum is on the east side, in the middle of the museum’s long wall (157m). From there you can take the lift, or walk up the stairs next to the lift. In the foyer on the ground floor, the Photographic Museum presents its first display. On the second floor beside the stairwell, there is an exhibition of photographs from the Naval Museum. The third floor area houses the cloakrooms and lockers. The lift is certified to carry 26 people and also serves as a goods lift for the two museums.

When you come out of the lift on the third floor, you may be surprised to notice the small, white tiles used to decorate the walls, and the light-grey limestone surface of the floor. Here, the architect has chosen to break away from the design used in the rest of the building

This area houses the toilets and the emergency staircase leading down from the loft. If you turn to the left (north) when leaving the lift, you enter the library and administration sections. To the right (south), you come to the ticket office, shop, gallery and cafeteria. The foyer, including ticket area and shop, covers 250 sq. m. on the third floor, and approx. 160 sq. m. on the other floors (including machinery room on the ground floor).
